Welcome to the New Zealand Vintage Radio Society (Inc), a non-profit organization devoted to the preservation of early radio equipment and its history. Whether you are restoring or collecting old radio equipment or just interested in the early days of radio in New Zealand, you will find kindred spirits in the NZVRS.

Preserving A Valued Piece of History

The NEW ZEALAND VINTAGE RADIO SOCIETY was formed in 1979 by our founder John Stokes and small group of about 35 enthusiasts (our foundation members). Our membership numbers has since grown to over 200. The main aim of the Society is to encourage the preservation of all types of early radio equipment and documentary material pertaining to the history of radio in New Zealand.

If you align with the objectives of the NZVRS, then by joining you will be able to make contact with people of similar interests, to have an opportunity to swap items of common interest, source components for restoration projects, circuit diagrams and other information. You will also connect with fellow enthusiasts with a variety of experience, associated with Vintage Radio.

Our annual publication, the NZVRS Bulletin, covers a wide range of aspects of vintage radio. Both printed and electronic (PDF) versions of the Bulletin are produced. There is also a monthly email of events etc as material warrants. The NZVRS maintains a library of circuit diagrams and service manuals for many New Zealand vintage radios. Currently about 1400 circuits have been scanned.

If you are interested in joining, please complete the membership application form found of the JOIN / RENEW page.
